Bloom from the Leftovers.
What we discard can still become something worth keeping. Sometimes value begins where purpose ends.
Bloom from the Leftovers begins with objects that have already fulfilled their intended purpose: discarded plastic water canisters, designed to be used, emptied and forgotten.
Instead of disappearing into the waste stream, they become the starting point for something new.
Crypsybear transforms each canister into a unique sculptural flower vase, layering its industrial surface with paint, graffiti, collage, discarded packaging, drawings and cultural fragments. What was once anonymous and disposable becomes individual, imperfect and deliberately impossible to reproduce.
But the transformation is more than material.
Each vase develops its own mythology. Ancient symbols collide with pop culture, contemporary anxieties and fragments of collective memory. A phoenix rises from destruction. Hokusai’s wave meets surfing pop icons. Skeletons refuse to grow old. A plastic reef turns pollution into an underwater mythology. Across the series, familiar images are taken out of their expected contexts and rewritten into new narratives.
The flowers introduce another contradiction. Something temporary and alive grows from an object created from a material that may remain long after us. Beauty becomes fleeting; waste becomes permanent.
That tension sits at the heart of Bloom from the Leftovers. Our culture constantly produces things designed to lose their value almost immediately, while the materials themselves refuse to disappear.
By turning these leftovers into objects meant to be displayed, collected and kept, the series reverses that logic.
The object we were supposed to throw away becomes the one we choose to preserve.BLOOM FROM THE LEFTOVERS — ORIGINAL VASE
This wasn’t designed.
It was rewritten.
Each vase starts as discarded plastic — then gets pushed through spray, collage, metal, fire, and raw mark-making until it becomes something that holds life.
No templates.
No repetition.
No safety.
Every piece carries its own system, its own scars:
CONSUME → COLLAPSE → REPEAT
From what was left
to what refused to stay down.
